Middle-aged Englishman and B&B owner Richard Ainsworth is living a quiet life in the Val de Follet--and that's the way he likes it. His quiet routine is suddenly disrrupted when scandal erupts in the nearby town of Saint-Sauver by way of its famous restaurant being downgraded from three 'Michelin' stars to two. The restaurant is shamed, the town is in shock and the leading goat's cheese supplier drowns himself in one of his own pasteurisation tanks. Or does he? Valérie d'Orçay, who is staying at the B&B while house-hunting in the area, isn't convinced that it's a suicide. Despite his misgivings, Richard is drawn into Valérie's investigation, and finds himself becoming the big cheese in this investigation!

By checking out a monitor with your library card, you can easily evaluate the radon levels in your living spaces, and determine if you are in danger. Radon kills nearly 21,000 people each year, more than 800 of them in Georgia. Radon can affect any home, regardless of construction or age. If found, radon can be fixed by installing a radon mitigation system.
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking and is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. It occurs naturally when uranium breaks down to form radon. Uranium is often found in high concentrations in granite rocky soils, as are common in northern Georgia counties. As radon is released into the soil, it can enter buildings through the foundation and well water, eventually building to dangerous levels.
Each radon kit contains two QR codes: one leads to an instructional video, while the other directs you to a website to submit your results. When you report your findings to the UGA Extension, the data will be used in scientific research and to raise awareness of radon levels in Georgia.
Watch this video about checking out a Radon kit from your library.
The PINES student PLAY card gives all Greene County students a special library card using their student number with no late fees. These PLAY cards are funded by a generous grant from Georgia Public Library Service. Find out more here!
