While working toward the grand opening of their Black-owned bookstore, four best friends are each told four little words that upend their lives, forcing them to lean on each other-and the books they love-to navigate the changes or risking losing the business and their friendships.
Rosa's family lives in the country with an apple tree. As the seasons change, the tree blooms, grows fruit, and finally yields ripe apples. We learn about pollination, apple growth, and the joy of a family picnic. On a warm late summer afternoon we join Rosa and her family for a celebratory picnic where a specially-made apple pie takes center stage. A non-fiction spread and recipe add to the learning fun.
